Velocity Distributions and Density Fluctuations
in a 2D Granular Gas.

This is a composite high speed image.
Diffuse light reflects off of about
a third of the surface area on the top of each particle.
A number of images taken at
838 fps are overlaid to produce the mpeg frames below.
Slow moving particles overlap, producing high pixel intensities that are false-colored blue.
Fast moving particles do not overlap, producing low pixel intensities that are false-colored red.
The mpegs demonstrate the temperature and density fluctuations discussed in our paper.
