Physics Department honors graduating students

On May 20th, the Department of Physics held its annual brunch in honor of the graduating class of 2011. This year's graduates include 15 students receiving B.S. and A.B. degrees in Physics, as well as two students receiving Ph.D.s and a student receiving an M.S. Congratulations to all of them!

The Department also announced several special awards and honors. The Treado Medal, given in recognition for all-around excellence in physics coursework, research, and valuable service to the department, was awarded to Derick Stace-Naughton. The Kidwell Medal, given to the senior who has demonstrated the highest level of academic excellence in physics coursework, was awarded to Matthew Illich. The Undergraduate Research Award, based on the depth and impact of the student's research, was awarded to Matthew Illich and Mark Jreissaty. Three students, Matthew Illich, Mark Jreissaty, and Antony Koroulakis, were awarded Honors in Physics in recognition of outstanding performance in the classroom and in independent research.
